PhD Program
The Institute of Molecular Biology & Biophysics together with the external page Institute of Biochemistry at the University of Zurich runs a external page PhD program (Biomolecular Structure and Mechanism) under the umbrella of the external page Life Science Zurich Graduate School (LSZG). The Life Science Zurich Graduate School consists of sixteen highly competitive Ph.D. programs, run jointly by the ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich.
The PhD program “Biomolecular Structure and Mechanism” (BSM) accepts promising and ambitious young scientists from all over the world and offers them a comprehensive education focused on the structural and mechanistic principles governing the function of biological macromolecules and supramolecular assemblies. To be able to apply, candidates must hold a Master in life sciences. Students accepted to the program will work towards their PhD in one of the research groups associated with the program and will benefit from a challenging and stimulating working environment.
The teaching program consists of a number of mandatory and elective advanced courses tailored to the skills required for a successful career in science, amongst them courses in science communication, research presentation and scientific writing. While the PhD program is run jointly between the ETH and the University of Zurich, PhD students at the Institute for Molecular Biology & Biophysics will obtain their PhD from the ETH Zurich.
